Freedom House

Freedom House

Personal Testimony:

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. – Cor 3:17-18

As we are preparing the Freedom House for office/classrooms and the upstairs residential space, we are utilizing our women’s Grace Harbor facilities in reuniting women with their children. Lisa, who completed the program in December says,

“Besides coming into Teen Challenge in the first place, being able to be reunited with my children while still in Teen Challenge has been the biggest blessing and the best decision I ever made. I have been able to have the support and guidance of the staff and the students – along with God”.

Joseph House

Joseph House

Personal Testimony: Hector

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly – John 10:10

I believed life could not and would not get better… that I would be a gang member all my life. Today my life belongs to God – my Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST! My life is dictated by choices based on truth, faith, trust, and the hope that makes my inner most joy. Today I stand on my own two feet, not lost but alive and growing. I am so thankful for the Joseph House and the opportunities that the program has and will continue providing for me and my family.

Respectfully, Hector.

Personal Testimony – Joel

Personal Testimony – Joel

Personal Testimony: Joel

My name is Joel and I grew up in Waterford, California. I was raised by my parents and had an older sister that I looked up to. My family was very loving, protective and sheltering. I had a wonderful childhood with very great memories. I was extremely loved, wanted and was given pretty much anything and everything I needed and wanted. I was a well behaved kid.

I always felt loved and was for the most part happy, but started to deal with depression. I got into drugs and alcohol at the age of 14, and ended up with a DUI in 2010. Down the road it got really bad when I got into crystal meth in 2014. My family saw I was suffering while I was still working full time and also doing drugs full time. They tried to help, but couldn’t figure out how.

My sister found out about Teen Challenge and sat me down to tell me about it. We then discussed it as a family. Since being here at Teen Challenge and inviting Christ into my life, I have seen and felt the blessings that He has poured into my life and the love He has for me. I have begun to feel happy and healthy and am thankful for getting here to get my life back on track.

I love you, Lord, my strength (Psalms 18:1)

How Jesus Made Trevor a New Man

How Jesus Made Trevor a New Man

Personal Testimony: Trevor

trevorI was about 13 when I had first smoked marijuana and after that my drug use escalated. I had always played sports and I did okay in school but the party life and being in the so called “in crowd” meant more to me then my future. I stopped playing sports when I was a junior in high school and partying became my life.

I used any and all kinds of drugs all through high school. After I had graduated high school I was introduced to heroin. This is when my life went straight down the hill. I lost everything, my life was unmanageable. I came to a point in my life where if I didn’t change the path I was going, I would soon end up dead. I had no drive to fix myself on my own and I needed help.

I came to Teen Challenge Monterey Bay in 2013 and it was the best decision of my life. I went from a boy to a man. They gave me purpose through Jesus Christ. I am able to say that I am not the old person that I once was. Addiction is a life long struggle but with Christ everyday becomes easier if we follow him. Phil 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Thank You Mom

Thank You Mom

I entered Teen Challenge a very broken and lost person. I was an intravenous meth user who had no future and no hope. I was living with my mother, and she gave me an ultimatum; live on the streets or go to Teen Challenge.

The Lord saved me and changed my life.

I have been clean for two years, and all criminal charges were dropped from my record. I now serve the Lord with all my heart.

Thank you Mom for not giving up on me. Thank you Teen Challenge for your dedication to helping people find Christ, and thank you, Jesus, for giving me a new life!

A Child of God

A Child of God

I’m 27 and have a son. I once called myself a drug addict and sex addict. I have been in trouble with the law so much that my own family pressed charges against me to try and get my attention, but it never worked. My drug addiction lead me to rehabs and also to prison.

Two months after I was released from prison I found myself back in that dark cell. I see now that God would use my problems for good. A prison ministry helped me while incarcerated and introduced me to Teen Challenge.

I gave my life to Christ one week after arriving at Teen Challenge. I am closer to my family and also my son. I appreciate life more now than ever before. Instead of me looking to the 12 steps to get me through the day, I now look to my Father each day. I am learning structure and discipline, I am learning about God and how He sacrificed His Son to die for me.

Now instead of calling myself an addict, I am proud to call myself a child of God!
